In 2014, the family would move into the first family home, no longer renting apartments.
When they returned to El Paso in 2010, Mr. Novo joked that he would offer a unit to the family, but told Marcela, “only while you finally get your own house!”. He, as well as Nacha(Humberto’s aunt), always pushed Marcela to finally get a house and make the home she deserved. The first person called when the offer would start going through was Mr. Novo, who would not charge the family rent while they closed, hoping to help them settle in to their new home.
Humberto would slowly rennovate the home to be more comfortable for Beto, as well as Sofia, Angel, and later Victoria and Basvi. Early in owning the home, through Beto’s insurance, a renovation was made to his nearest bathroom to be more accessible, replacing the tub with a open walk-in shower with railings. This was more compatible with Beto’s rolling bath chair, and would serve helpful and Humberto and Marcela kept up with a growing Beto.

Later, the front porch of the house would be adjusted in a similar manner to create a rampway up to the main door to connect the driveway to the entrance.
